Why We Worship the Way We Do

All of our worship practices are biblically based.

We stand to sing because 2 Chronicles 20:19 tells us, “…the Levites…stood up to praise the Lord God of Israel with a loud voice on high.”

We clap our hands because Psalm 47:1 tells us,  “O clap your hands, all ye people; shout unto God with the voice of triumph.”

We lift our hands because Psalm 134:2 tells us, “Lift up your hands in the sanctuary, and bless the Lord,” and 1 Timothy 2:8 says, “I will therefore that men pray every where, lifting up holy hands, without wrath and doubting.”

We have people speaking in other languages (tongues) because Mark 16:17 tells us, “And these signs shall follow them that believe…they shall speak with new tongues.” 1Corinthians 13:1 says, “Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not charity, I am become as sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal.” Additionally, 1 Corinthians 14:5 says, “I would that ye all spake with tongues.”

We have people speaking in tongues and in English because 1 Corinthians 14:14-15 says, “For if I pray in an unknown tongue, my spirit prayeth, but my understanding is unfruitful. What is it then? I will pray with the spirit, and I will pray with the understanding also.”
